:: Under $20 Eyelet LWD + Sales ::

July 3, 2017

:: Under $20 Eyelet LWD + Sales ::

I hope you all are enjoying your long holiday weekend!

I wanted to share one of my favorite inexpensive purchase with all of you today! My favorite,  Old Faithful Old Navy to the rescue as always.  I was trying to find some more neutral dresses that I can wear for our trip and this dress is the perfect bang for your buck.  It is on sale for $16 with their current sale, and they have the same dress in tons of different prints and colors too.

This dress is supper flattering with the fit and flare shape and I love the simple eyelet pattern for a classic dress for summer.

// FIT AND FLARE EYELET DRESS //
wearing XS, runs TTS
and the same dress in several different colors and prints !

:: A FEW MORE SALES ::

GAP has 40% off your purchase with code JULY and up to 60% off sale.
My jeans that I am in LURVE with are on sale for only $30!

This is the most inexpensive I have seen them and the price I was able to snag them at, so get them while you can!
They have a lot of stretch so you can go down a size if you like in these!

// MID RISE JEANS //

J.Crew has an additional 50% off all sale items with code SALETIME.
The tank I am wearing in the photo above is also on sale.  I stocked up on white/navy/grey and they are the perfect fit with just the right deep scoop in the front and back.  They are an additional 50% off right now as well!

// VINTAGE COTTON TANK TOP //

We had a great weekend!
Saturday was one of my friends weddings at Monday Night Brewery and the weather held out just in time for a gorgeous outdoor ceremony.

I wore an old Topshop dress to the wedding.
The straps do a pretty criss-cross in the back and it was perfect for the heat!

They don’t have the same dress, but they have this dress in the same pretty coral color and this dress in the same cut!  I also love this long grey version of the dress.

Yesterday we went on an almost 5 mile walk all around the neighborhood and took a break for some cocktails in between.  Then layed out and read (I am half way through Crazy Rich Asians and loving it!) and grilled out.  We FINALLY had a nice, sunny day yesterday and it was very needed!

I tried a new nail color this week (I’ve taken a month long break from the gel – my nails are so week! I’ve been taking Biotin but nothing seems to be helping.  It’ll be back to gel at the end of the month though!)   I never seem like any new colors, I always stick to a French Mani/Pedi or Mod About You, but this OPI Let’s Be Friends I didn’t mind.

Hope you all have a safe and wonderful 4th of July tomorrow with your friends and family!!

:: Swimsuit Finds + Friday Randoms + Link Love ::

Cheers to Friday!
I have a low-key weekend planned that is much needed – I feel like we have been go-go-go lately.
I want to eat breakfast in bed like the picture above and read my new book that I am loving so far.
I’m just ready to veg and not feel bad about it.
We leave for our trip to Amsterdam and Italy 2 weeks from today (!!!), and next weekend we are busy with a wedding+ Fourth of July plans, so I need to get to work and get stuff done! My to-do list is growing by the minute!

I don’t know if the rain this week is ever going to stop, or if I will ever be poolside again.
Seriously that is how this week has felt – it has been that. much. rain.
But the next time the sun ever decides to show it’s face again, I have an inexpensive one piece for you!
I had ordered and tried about 5 black suits before this and sent them all back because the fit was off or they just weren’t worth the price tag.

//  ONE PIECE CUTOUT SWIMSUIT //

The rear-end coverage in this one is moderate if you are on the hunt for that too! I know I get asked that when I post suits!  And the low back is the perfect amount of low!

I’m still madly in love with this other one piece swimsuit, I love the style and I’m wearing it frequently – Kip is not a fan of prints but somehow likes this one, but the tush area is slightly more revealing, so if you want to keep it locked up around pool dates with the kids or your in laws, the black Old Navy Suit would be a better option 🙂  And it’s SUCH A STEAL!

I feel like the Old Navy suit looks identical to this one which has a higher price tag (but is under $150).

// CUT OUT SUIT //
I also love this cut out suit for under $80!

One other one piece that I took a chance on and am so glad that I did is this Maryisa knock-off.  For just $26!
I have been wanting to try one of these for forever  (and by these I mean a copy cat version) but never trusted they would be anything remotely good.

// BLACK ONE PIECE //
This one just arrived in the mail so I didn’t have time to snap a pic in it, but the fit is great and for the price the quality pleasantly surprised me.  I’m not saying it’s the $350 Marysia quality,
but I think it’s great and will work with jean shorts and everything too!
Runs TTS I got a size Small. I love the lower back too!

also, if you have a bigger chest, my guess is this one will offer more support than the first suit!

:: FASHION FINDS ::

On Tuesday I talked about my favorite sandal of all time that is God’s gift to feet.  Literally.  And I said that if they make heels with these heavenly soles that everyone, especially brides, needs to hop on it.  Welp! They have stilletos and they are up to 50% off right now.  Be still my beating heart.
My Anica Thong Sandal is dwindling in stock, but two others with much more options are
THE ANICA SLING SANDAL  and  THE ANICA CRISS CROSS SANDAL
Three other sale options that I love :

CRISS-CROSS MULE   //  FENLEY STRAPPY SANDAL  //  QUILTED BALLET FLAT

 I wasn’t lying when I said a shoe monster had been created by these damn Anica Sandals.

Eye catching Eyelet : The best white dress ever – classic but still totally young and fun.

I love the simplicity and elegance of these threader earrings.

This dress looks just like Ted Baker for a fraction of the price!

Ruffled tiers of blue + white preppy perfection.

The coral red color of this double strapped tank is gorgeous and would be great for any 4th of July festivities!

A reader pointed out that for my Wedding Guest Dresses post on Wednesday I had this gorgeous dress that 40% off in the collage, but didn’t include a link (sorry!).  I ordered it to try for friends black tie optional wedding in October!

Would this dress make you look like Goldilocks? Ah, whatever it’s so stinking adorable.

These layered necklaces make such a statement, and all for under $40.

The pattern on this takes it up a notch – perfect for day or night.

This new-to-me-brand Thieves Like US has so many great summer options! Some favorites:
// TULIP HEM SHORTS // RACERBACK TANK DRESS  //
// BLACK ASYMMETRICAL DRESS //  OPEN BACK MAXI DRESS  //

The embroidered trim on this bikini is everything, and would be perfect for 4th of July!

Buttons down the back + a lace hem? Yes please!

This Satchel Handbag looks just like my Kate Spade steal I found and love from TJMaxx.  The color is so fresh and perfect for summer!

This dress is perfect when you don’t know the dress code for a wedding, and could be worn all times of year.

Another new-to-me brand that has great picks is Piper.
Lots of colorful pieces that scream happy summer and would be perfect for the heat!
STRIPED OFF THE SHOULDER  // POM EDGE TANK //  TASSEL HEM DRESS // STRAPLESS SKIRTED ROMPER // WHITE EMBROIDERED TOP // BLUE SLIP DRESS //  OFF THE SHOULDER TOP  // EMBROIDERED ROMPER  //

:: LINK LOVE + WEEKEND READING ::

For those of you throwing back some cocktails this weekend (cheers!), the best and worst workouts when you’re hungover.

The new season of Big Brother starts next week! Every year they change the decor and theme of the entire house, and I am loving this year’s temptation and Adam and Eve theme.

We know that Bachelor in Paradise is back to production after finding no wrong-doing but here are two updates from the last day: Corinne’s boyfriend speaks out publicly (seriously? aren’t you supposed to pretend you don’t have a boyfriend and that’s why you were in Paradise?) and DeMario will not be returning.
Apparently the BIP Cast is standing behind DeMario and not Corrinne.

3 easy ways to style up the easiest party app – hummus – from Cupcakes & Cashmere.

My girl crush forever and the most perfect person on the planet J.Lo is returning to Rom Coms.  I meannnn maybe only my mother and I will freak out over this, but J.Lo in Monster-in-Law, and pretty much all of her movies, are everything.

25 Things You Don’t Know about SNL’s Leslie Jones.
We have tons in common! For example, her favorite place in the world is on her couch in front of her TV.

I can’t wait to make this Healthy Garden Pasta Salad this summer.  Looks delicious!

We may have to wait until 2018, but I am so excited for American Crime Story: The Assassination of Versace.   One look at Ricky Martin as his longtime partner and I am hooked!

Tom + Katie from Vanderpump Rules break-up rumors are swirling.

How to make yourself work when you don’t really feel like it.   I will be using this to help me prep some blog posts for when I am in Italy.  My problem is things I use for blogging like Pinterest orrrr watching a TV show for Coffee Talk and then it’s all downhill from there….

Pantry staples to keep on hand for last minute dinners.

The Secret to Small Talk.  Some people are just so amazing at this!

Kourtney Kardashian shared her recipe for her detox salad. (I just want to have access to those gigantic chinese chicken salad bowls they are always eating).  This salad looks great, but I’d swap the salmon for something else, and the dressing sounds great too!

The more I try to start Coffee Talk earlier in the week to say everything and cover everything the more I am losing my mind! I didn’t even include any of my notes about The Bachelorette yesterday!? I had typed them on my phone and completely forgotten about them.  Anyways, I’ll add them to Coffee Talk this weekend and update the post!
Spoiler Alert: THEY ARE MORONS WHO CAN’T SPELL. Especially the resting bitch face guy.

Yeah…. match made in heaven for the lawyer.  Soul Mates.

If you need me, I’ll be on the sofa tonight with remote in hand, catching up on RH of NYC and loving an early bed time!
No Shame.

:: The Summer Sandal sent from Heaven ::

:: The Summer Sandal sent from Heaven ::

So many of you have e-mailed me about big trips you have coming up to all kinds of amazing places abroad.  Packing is always one of the biggest questions, and in my opinion, the most important thing for a trip like that is a great pair of shoes, especially when lots of sight seeing is involved.

But even if you aren’t traveling, who wouldn’t want adorable sandals that are also so insanely comfortable that it is not to be believed?!

I spent weeks hunting for sandals the last time we went to Italy and my friends had recommended these sandals which were super comfortable and never gave me a single blister.  I would definitely still recommend them!
I also found a steal version of those sandals, 1/3 of the price and great reviews!

I found the most perfect absolute dream pair of sandals.
You probably think I am joking.  I am not. Just read the reviews from every one else too!
I squealed out loud – loudly – when I put these on my feet.
They feel like walking on clouds or having pillows strapped to the bottom of your feet.

// MONOGRAMMED DOOR MAT //

They come in 4 colors and – warning – are selling fast!  When I saw all of the reviews for how incredible these were, I hunted everywhere! I had anticipated them to be comfortable because they are Cole Haan’s and they are known for their incredibly comfortable shoes, but when I put these on…..  Oh my goodness.  The level of cushion and padding in these is unlike any other pair of shoes I have ever worn.  (Brides…. wear Cole Haan’s if they make cute heels….. I wish I had thought of it because my Kate Spade’s were cute but a killer.)

 I rounded up where I can still find ’em below for you :
AVAILABLE AT COLE HAAN // ON SALE IN A FEW SIZES AT ZAPPOS //
and ALL SIZES IN STOCK FOR METALLIC

For a non-ankle strap version, but all of the heavenly foot pillow comfort,
they have this sandal still fully stocked and it comes in 7 colors.

// COLE HAAN CRISS CROSS SANDAL //

:: STEAL VERSION ::

I managed to find two steal versions of my sandal above! I can’t promise the same comfort, but they got great reviews.
Here is a knock-off version for a super steal !

and this one is available in all sizes! also comes in black!
// STEAL VERSION OF STRAPPY SANDALS //

And another similar sandal

// STEAL VERSION STRAPPY SANDAL //

I think a Cole Haan monster has been created. Why have I never owned them before!?
I found these brown leather mules on sale at Nordstrom Rack and couldn’t pass them up.
I had been waiting for a pair of mules for a long time and love the wooden stacked heel.

They are available still in all sizes and are on sale for under $100!

// COLE HAAN BROWN LEATHER MULES //

But I’m sure what you all really want to know about is that furry blue background.
I know, I know….. it’s exquisite.

My husband found that gorgeous blue and white shower bath mat at Costco…..
For those of you interested, he says it was about $4.99….. and I’m sure it is still available.

You’re welcome in advance. And I am available for professional photo tips at any time 🙂

A few other sandals that I love (especially these!!)
ALL with 100% 5 Star Reviews
that I think would be great for anyone traveling abroad and needing some serious walking sandals
that don’t make you look like a 97 year old in orthopedic shoes 🙂
But if that’s the look you’re going for….. by all means……

Rave reviews all around for this style by “Tommy Freaking Hilfiger”

// TOMMY HILFIGER SANDAL // comes in 3 colors

These come in 5 colors and have 53 Five Star Reviews!
They are 33% off right now too!

// SCALLOPED SANDAL //

// TOMS SANDALS //

// WRAP GLADIATOR SANDAL //

I don’t own any Aerosoles, but they are supposed to be super comfy and these come in 6 colors.

It’s been hot hot hot this week and this romper has been the perfect thing to wear to survive the heat. It even has an open back for some extra ventilation 🙂

I’ve been compiling a list of everything everyone recommendsand will definitely share it with all of you.
Unfortunately all of the Anne Frank tickets are sold out already – which I had expected since we booked Amsterdam so late, but that’s okay we will just have to wait in line! Thank you all for the heads up about the tickets though!

:: FASHION FINDS ::

The top that sold out in a heartbeat is now available in a dress!  So stinking cute and a total classic.
speaking of “the top” they came out with a striped version!  – still in all sizes! – that may be even cuter.

they have the same gorgeous pattern in a silk cami as well!

I am obsessed with this white lace tunic top – and it’s under $80!
It already sold out on Nordstrom but I found it at Bloomingdales!

I love the unique + kind of crazy watercolor pattern of this wrap midi dress!

I am all about the fun, colorful sandals that are so fashionable for summer. A few favorites:

:: Tassel Top + Weekend Recap ::

I hope you all had a great weekend!
It was absolutely gorgeous here in Atlanta.  We had perfect weather all weekend, so we were able to spend tons of time outdoors.

I have a fun summer top to share with you today!
And it is also budget friendly –  under $50!
If you’ve been reading for a while, you know I love any dresses or tops that have a detailed back to them;
the criss-crossed back and tassel straps add a perfect touch to this flowy top.

// TASSEL TOP //
runs large, size down!

Friday we did the Moon Ride, which is a charity bike ride through downtown Atlanta (6 Miles through all the neighborhoods)

It was actually quite terrifying – really fun, but dangerous and terrifying.  There were so many people that it kept getting really congested even though we tried to go at the very end and let it thin out a bit.  Luckily my iPhone is as big as my head and I can’t take pictures with one hand when I’m standing on my two feet, so I didn’t dare try taking pictures while we were riding.  But we made it out alive and then when we were done around 1 am we biked up to Victory for some sandwiches before cabbing it back home. Let me tell you – those sandwiches were so freaking good.
It was a very very late night since the bike ride didn’t even start until after 11 PM, but it was well worth it!

Our friends got tons of glow sticks to dress up our bikes (and ourselves) and some silly string as well.  The boys realized that we hadn’t used it and when we were got to the bottom of the hill after our 2 am snack they jumped out of the bushes and used it on us.  It was a lovely end to the evening 🙂

Saturday we did lots of home errands + yard work (and by we, I mean Kipper.  I helped pick things out at Lowe’s but I am really not a gardener!)

We are still waiting for the hydrangea to come back – fingers crossed.  Just the one remains.
And we replaced the daisies with some new white flowers. The mailbox flowers had lasted about 7 months but were finally on their last legs so those got replaced too.

Saturday night we went to Nuevo Laredo with my best friend that was in town with her husband!

She has always raved about this place but we had never made it and I absolutely loved it.  They don’t take reservations so you just hang out outside with a pitcher of margaritas while you wait.  It’s win win! And the food is absolutely delicious.

DRESS – ELLA MOSS FROM TJ MAXX // EARRINGS // SIMILAR SHOES

Sunday I squeezed in a morning Flywheel class which always sets the tone for the week, headed to TJ’s for flowers and groceries and got meal prep done for the week, enjoyed some family time with the kiddos,
and made a quick and healthy cheesy chicken dinner that I’ll be sharing tomorrow!
It all comes together in under 15 minutes!

I hope you all have a great start to your week!

:: Favorite New Workout + Spaghetti Squash Chow Mein ::

By far, the biggest request I have been getting lately is for more health and fitness posts.
I have definitely made 2017 my year of trying to get serious about my workouts and branching out more in the kitchen with healthy recipes.  Anything to keep my weekend indulgences!

I saw this recipe when my friend posted it on snapchat, and I e-mailed her immediately for the recipe!  Who doesn’t love those asian noodle meals loaded with sauce and veggies?  But they are always filled with preservatives and GMO and OMG who knows what else.  Swap out the noodles for spaghetti squash and make all of the ingredients fresh and clean and you get all of the flavor without any of the guilt!  I also love a meal that I can eat large portions of, and this is definitely it!
It’s packed full of veggies and keeps you full with the added protein from the chicken.
I have seen similar recipes but they all require much more work – the bag of frozen veggies makes this SUCH an easy thing to whip together, and the leftovers are great for work the next day.

:: Spaghetti Squash Chow Mein ::
Author: Taylor :: The Sarcastic Blonde
Recipe type: Healthy Dinner
Cuisine: Asian

A healthy take on take-out Chow Mein
Ingredients
  • One large spaghetti squash
  • Chicken breast, I used about 1 pound
  • 1 tablespoon of siracha
  • 2 tablespoons of soy sauce (or coconut aminos)
  • 1 large glove of garlic
  • 2 tablespoons of fresh grated ginger
  • 1 frozen veggie mix (corn, peas, carrots and green beans)
  • coconut oil (can use canola instead)
  • salt/pepper to taste
Instructions
  1. cook spaghetti squash (I cut it length wise, put it face down in a dish with some water and microwave until its soft and then scrape out the inside)
  2. saute sliced chicken in oil, salt and a little soy sauce until cooked through
  3. separately combine garlic, ginger and oil on low, and cook until fragrant
  4. add frozen veggies to garlic and ginger mixture and cook until thawed
  5. add spaghetti squash, soy sauce and siracha to veggie mixture. Cook on medium, covered for 3-5 minutes.
  6. Add chicken breast and serve.

:: FITNESS UPDATE ::

One of my 2017 Intentions was to try a new workout class each month.
We are in month 5 and I think technically I have been to 5 new-to-me studio since then!  (I have worked very hard at climbing out of my workout-shell…. I used to never go to any class alone, but I have lost my Chicago workout buddies, so now I am venturing out and embarrassing myself in front of large groups of strangers regularly!)

This month I went to a class that I have been wanting to try for months and luckily is on ClassPass (although the class times are limited because spots in prime time AM and PM fill up quickly!)
It’s an Atlanta studio (sorry non-locals!) called Sculpthouse, which is a class that is half Megaformer/Pilates machine and half cardio on a Curve Treadmill.

Needless to say, it is quite the stylish space.  The aesthetics of it are incredible and it doesn’t look like any other workout studio or gym I have been in.  The changing area alone looks like something out of a boutique!  And they also have quite the large storefront with tons of cute workout clothes.  Prices are just slightly above my favorites from Old Faithful Navy, and by slightly, I mean largely.  But the browsing while waiting for class is really fun and they did have a good sale section!

Unfortunately, I wasn’t there to shop, but rather to get my ass kicked.
And get my ass kicked I did!   I always have a hard time (i.e. ramble, and ramble big time) describing a workout class so I found a review to help.

This article (from one of my favorite health + wellness sites, Well + Good)
summarizes the studio and what it is all about:
“Sculpthouse is the only studio that combines the uber-trendy Megaformer with a treadmill (an NFL-approved Woodway Curve one, at that) for a seriously intense workout—think Barry’s Bootcamp for the Pilates-on-crack obsessed. Founded by SLT veteran Katherine Mason, the high-end studio in Buckhead offers both interval classes and classic Megaformer sessions—either way, you’ll be leaving with trembling abs and limbs. The studio’s also a boutique that sells the hottest activewear (Koral, Michi, and Terez, among others) and natural post-gym beauty essentials from Tata Harper and Soapwalla (and more), so you can get your fitness and fashion taken care of in one chic locale.”

For my first class, the instructor put me in the middle of the Megaformers so that I would have people to my left and right to watch and follow along.  She also did a a great job helping correct me during the 25 minute portion of the moves.  It’s all about super slow and controlled movements and you can definitely feel them the next day!

Thank goodness the instructor had me start on the Megaformer.  She said if I did the treadmill first I could be too exhausted for the Pilates based portion {and she was definitely correct.}  These Curve treadmills have no motor and they are powered entirely by you and your body weight.  And WOW is it a much harder running workout.  For the treadmill portion of class, you follow a TV screen that leads you from Level 1 to Level 4 and it’s very easy to follow.  Let’s just say Orange Theory made me feel like I was actually a runner, BLAST made me feel like I was a jogger/runner, and Sculpthouse slapped some sense back into me and made me feel like an amateaur jogger.  But in the best way.  It is such a harder workout without the motor.  I would start to move forward when slowing down and my feet hitting that spot would actually make it go faster and I’d be thinking NO IM TIRED! SLOWER! AH! But they are perfectly easy to use.  When I was walking to my car after class I felt like I was still walking as if I was on the curve (aka looked like a straight up lunatic).

By the end of the class, I was drenched in sweat.  And I loved it.  Even though I hate not knowing what I’m doing and it can be a little embarrassing, this is worth it.  I think it is such a unique combination of toning and cardio and a great way to switch things up and keep your body guessing.
They do have different types of classes that can be more whole body or more focused on certain parts, but I have just been taking whatever is available on ClassPass which has been total body and I like it!

I have read some mixed reviews about the classes, with people saying its hard to follow and not for everyone.  I can understand these critiques, because the instructor names all of these crazy positions and I have no idea what shes talking about.  But I think you just need to be comfortable not knowing in the beginning, and tell the people next to you that you are going to stare at them to copy them like I did (you know…. so as not to be a total creep, warn them of your staring in advance!) and then it’s much easier.  I only have 2 classes under my belt but honestly staring at people was easy enough for me to follow along even when the teacher wasn’t doing a demo.

Sorry for those of you not in Atlanta that don’t have this studio! Hopefully you just skipped over!

I know I still haven’t posted a Food Journal that you all keep asking for,
so I’m hoping to have that as my next Tone It Up Tuesday post!
  I figure maybe after Memorial Day weekend?  That way I can post my 3 days of healthy meals from the previous week and be a complete and utter hypocrite because I will have just eaten everything in sight and drank my face off for 3 days?
Sound like a plan? Mmmmk great!

Any new workout classes you recommend?
Or amazing healthy recipes to try!? Let me know!
