Lifestyle, weekend recap

:: new adventures ::

May 16, 2016

:: new adventures ::

I hope you all had a great weekend!

I’m finally sharing the news I’ve been keeping from you for several weeks.

With us fixing up our condo the last couple months you may have already suspected, but Kip and I have sold our place and are moving.
image
The bigger change is that we are leaving Chicago and moving back down to my hometown of Atlanta!
image
There are a lot of emotions all over the place right now.  We’ve discussed moving South for about two years, and it’s just been a matter of when.  We love Chicago and love our lives here – but realistically we don’t want it forever.  And the months and months on end of freezing cold really start to take its toll.  Especially when you aren’t as young and fun (aka as much of booze hounds as we use to be – I know – imagine how much we used to drink if I’m saying we are pretty lame during the winter months now :D) We knew it was likely going to be a “leaving earlier than we want” or “stuck here longer than we want” situation.   Kip has been wanting a job change, and finding something new in Chicago was likely going to keep us here for several more years, which was longer than we had planned for.  So you guessed it – a new job in Atlanta came our way which was amazing – and that was the push we needed to get ourselves moving.
I’m so excited to be going back home, but in all honestly,  at the moment it’s very overwhelming.
literally the only thing that can even come close to explaining it is this:

Throughout the last few weeks, I’ve realized I am amazing at denial 🙂
 It is my coping mechanism.
Because there has been SO much going on and so much to do to get our renovation finished and our place perfect and on the market I am kind of just not really realizing what is going on.  I’ve just been going through the motions and checking things off the to-do list.
I literally was getting boxes from my boss’s place yesterday because they just moved and I commented on something with work when I will no longer be here.  Like, I’m getting moving boxes and forgetting I won’t be at work anymore. I’d say it’s been 95% of the time I am fine and busy and focused on things, but then in the middle of a conversation with a friend over the phone about the move I will start sobbing hysterically.
Or as I type this, I cry.

You know – totally normal – I am like pure zen and emotionally stable right now.  Clearly.

This will be my last week at work so it’s really putting it all into perspective for me – I am really sad to be leaving my job and the people, because I don’t think I will ever find anything like it.  I’m so lucky to go to an office everyday and love it – but now it will be Kip’s turn to get to experience that and I will find a new place to hopefully love.
Also, I know Kip is leaving his family and hometown whereas I am going to mine, so I have an added level of stress wanting to make things good for him and have him be happy and settled and comfortable.

In a way, I feel like leaving Chicago is like a break-up.
We know this is the right thing to do, and we know it is what we want, but it doesn’t necessarily make it any easier.
It’s like the boyfriend you love so much, but you know at the end of the day you aren’t going to marry him, so at some point you have to cut the cord.
SooOOOoooo.
I could clearly ramble on and on but I’ll stop myself.
Typing all of this out is making it very real and making my denial very difficult 🙂

We are super lucky that our place sold immediately when we put it on the market, and we will be in Atlanta in about two weeks.
I know most of this post sounds like I’m not very excited, but I am 🙂
I just have a really really really hard time with change – even change that I want – and preparing to leave the life I built for 8 years here (plus the 4 at Miami of Ohio, since that is how I ended up in Chicago to begin with) makes me sad.
I keep reminding myself that one of my best girlfriends left Chicago over a year ago and I still see her and am just as close to her – and the same thing with one of Kip’s best guy friends.
It’s not the location that maintains the friendship – and I have plenty of friends I haven’t lived in the same city as for the last 8 years and we are just as close.

I’ll show the final pictures from our amazing renovation tomorrow – I was already so madly in love with our place, and of course it made me love it even more.

So, none of this came out as eloquently as I had hoped 🙂
I know Coffee Talk doesn’t show it, but occasionally I can write well and this was one of those times I was hoping to verbalize my thoughts a bit better.
I think my emotions are keeping me from writing this the way I want it but whatever – I have other things to worry about, like packing up a 3 story condo.
 hashtag fun times

I’m excited for us to take on this new chapter in our lives !
It’s crazy that after talking about it for so long we are actually doing it – and that the time is finally here.
it’s crazy that we are adults and making life decisions like this – when the heck did this happen?

editors note : if you live in atlanta, and are PNF material (potential new friend), please know I am totally joking and not emotionally unstable at all.  well….. shit who am I kidding…. not making any promises 🙂

and now, to end, some cheesy motivational quotes to give me the monday motivation I need to get through this week.

:: housewives week ::

May 13, 2016

:: housewives week ::
I was planning on having more to say today (aren’t I always?)
and I know I only talked about Housewives yesterday in Coffee Talk,
oops
but a reader Jaime (thank you!) commented with this list of ALL of the housewives ranked and I just loved it and devoured it.  For you Bravo lovers it will just blow your mind how many housewives there have been and how many from FOREVER ago you forgot and then totally remember.
LINK : All of Bravo’s Housewives, Ranked

I know Mama Elsa is not an actual Housewife, but she is the only thing missing from the list 🙂
I think next week I’m doing a whole post on just Mama Elsa gifs because I just feel into a deep internet hole of pure Mama Elsa and it was glorious.

I seriously want to spend all weekend watching the first season of all of the franchises.
I’m like Bravo-cracked up right now and it’s way past my bedtime.

Happy weekend loves!!!
 Big news to share that I just have been waiting to share because I hate sharing things especially when it involves change and big life changes and it gives me anxiety yet I have a blog so that makes total sense right?
God I’m annoying.

:: coffee talk ::
discuss amongst ya-selves…….

first of all, all of your commentary about the Tiny House Hunters post was amazing and I have so many things to reply to. so glad I am not alone in this.

all I think about is ‘center for ants’ even though it has nothing to do with it.

so…. on to Housewives talk

:: RH of Dallas ::
I meannnnnn we pick up with LeeAnne and Tiffany’s fight
{while the valet man texts and ignores – loved it}

wheres the valet guy in the gif when ya need him?
LeeAnne’s flip out was IN. FREAKING. SANE.
she went POSTAL. and she seriously attacked that camera man!
if a celeb had done that to a pap, there definitely would have been someone pressing charges.
damn girl!
for all of those charity and society and maturity and appropriateness talks, you are FREAKING NUT JOB.
then she almost gets hit by a cable car, then hits the cable car before kicking her heels of and walking barefoot to her car like the carny she is
ummmm. not very charitable behavior LeeAnne. (DRINK!)

This tension with Brandi’s husband is just too intense.
Huge moment in her life that clearly is very important to her and he’s like um, no thanks, but I’ll go drink and show up at the end.  I felt so sad for her when she realized he was out golfing and drinking and then just walks in and  walks straight outside to the playground.
ASS.
your wife’s family is together for the FIRST time in her life and you just can’t be bothered.

You know who would never do that? Cary’s husband.
Because he’s too busy getting waaaaaaayyyy into picking out outfits for his wife and making her put them on and then discuss every detail about them.

  like the other week when Tiffany went to do a video of Cary’s closet for her blog, and the ENTIRE thing is her husband showing different pieces he purchased with comments like “this is from the cary summer collection”

I REALLY JUST CANNOT.
I like Cary though……

you can tell it’s season one of Dallas because LeeAnne shows up to lunch with Tiffany, first words are “I love you and I’m so sorry”, the apology is reciprocated, and that is that.
I bet my-boyfriend-andy-cohen was not pleased with this.
He wants them to go Jersey on their ass.

OMG finally a gif that shows it all! Woo hoo!
really not into shahs this season so far

:: RHOBH reunions ::
Did I talk about this? I can’t remember?
shocker.
the only thing I really need to discuss is Rinna.  I’m just so over you.
I loved you last season and this season I’m dunzo.
You’ve been replaced by my new true love, Erica Jayne.
You need to lay off with yelling “just own it just own it just own it”
and even more so….. sit your ass on the damn couch you look like a fool!
she needs to “walk away” so she stands there talking about how she has to walk away for an eternity and then walks 4 steps and keeps talking and then walks and sits back down.

:: tamer update ::
ummmmmm I can’t stand tamra but DAMN GIRL. looking good.

see other pics + the article here

:: RHONY ::
last week at bethenny’s BBQ in the hamptons, every single one of them needed to grow up and lock it up.
just say hello and be done with it.  good god.
he really is such a creep and an ass. what is dorinda thinking?
I’m watching this weeks episode as I type this with the dinner scene between the two of them arguing the whole dinner AND I JUST CAN’T.
I seriously can’t even watch him. He gives me the HEEBY JEEBIEZ.
he gets those CAH-razy eyes.

hahaha oh my gosh Sonja announcing her Tipsy Girl Prosecco.
“I’m just the ultimate Tipsy Girl”

I mean seriously Bethenny is going to FAH-lip.

insert bethenny flipping tables with her eyes and words all over the place up in hurr.

:: Mazel of the Week ::
I just keep picturing the ‘This is from the Cary Summer Collection” and realizing I am already somehow into Dallas.  Even if only for the crap pure gold we get with lines like that.

and you know how much I love you all and want you to watch as much as trash as I do…. so I pulled the whole Sanctuary of Style Closet Crash right here for you!
I mean all you need to see is the intro with Tiffany doing model poses on the side of a highway.  It’s PURE GOLD PEOPLE.
and then watching Mark go through his explanations of all of her outfits is seriously SO SO SO SO SO SO GOOD.
seriously.  please watch in its entirety.
it’ll be just what you need to get you through your workday and one step closer to Friday.
Mazel to you Mark!

and then OMG OMG! they have weird blown up instagram photos of themselves on their walls of their bedroom!

Not quite as amazing Scheana and Shay, but hey, no one can beat their place.

EDITORS NOTE :
as always, ignore my own blatant grammatical errors whilst I make fun of others poor grammar during coffee talk on a weekly basis.
#hypocrite  #sorryimnotsorry
I write these posts late at night while simultaneously watching Bravo, taking snapchats of my snoring husband, and making to do lists of everything I was supposed to do and didn’t do that day and likely won’t do the next day either.  or the day after that.

:: tiny house hunters : I just can’t ::

May 10, 2016

:: tiny house hunters : I just can’t ::
if you’re anything like me, in addition to your love of Bravo, you gobble up HGTV and any home show.
I love House Hunters, Fixer Upper, etc….. so naturally I thought I would give Tiny House Hunters a try.

The commercials really sell it : cute young couple saying  “We would rather spend our money on experiences and going places, rather than pouring all that money into a house.” and I’m thinking
YEAH. ME TOO.  WHY AREN’T WE DOING THAT???
and the little houses in the commercial are adorable.
like, LOOK AT THAT.  how cute is that!!!
who wouldn’t want that?
I’m in!! I’m selling our house, buying a tiny house immediately, and then traveling to Italy right after we move in because we’re being smart and using money where it should be used – experiences! And then friends can all move in next-door and it’ll be a tiny house block party every night! Woo Hoo!

……. but then I watched the show.
We watched two back to back, and I realized I am Hashtag First World Problems because I was deeeee-scusted.

Here are a few highlights from the episodes I saw :
Lemme set the stage : this couple has two kids and they are buying a not even 1 twin bed space where the kitchen “sink” is a size of a bowl inside the shower (basically IN the shower)
and they say
“with the extra money we bought a shower curtain for privacy”
read that sentence again.  seriously.
and for that episode they didn’t have even have a toilet…. so, really I can’t. and really I’m confused.

before all you crazies get all nuts about how more than half the world lives like this, I am saying that these are people CHOOSING to live like this. for the hell of it. choosing to shower in their kitchen sink.

simmer down now.

another great one from the second episode is their desire to not have a functioning toilet.  it’s like, “ugh, people who need indoor plumbing disgust me.”
“it’s a total plus that they have a compost toilet, I really want compost.”
WHAAAAAT????
you do your business, and then cover it with wood chips, and literally you can be touching your business covered in wood chip with one hand and the kitchen sink and counter with the other.  AND while you’re making something in the kitchen you are right next to your business just, like, in there. sitting.

I JUST  REALLY CAN NOT.

you know what I miss? MTV Cribs.  that show was the $HEY*TE.
like YES I WANT TO SEE INSIDE YOUR FRIDGE!!!!!!

but honestly, there has GOT to be something in between excess and a desire to not bathe normally or go to the restroom normally for the sheer sake of saving money to travel or being green.

but I guess I’m a materialistic wasteful person because I prefer toilet paper and not catching E.Coli in my own home from my toilet seat being my kitchen cutting board
BUT HEY (throws hands passively up in defeat) THAT’S JUST ME.

please tell me others have seen this show and thought the same thing.
OR please write mean comments because those are great too.

but really, my main thing during EVERY episode of House Hunters is me screaming this at the television:

aren’t you glad I’m back to daily posting 🙂 sorry not sorry.
