:: weekend things ::
I hope you all had a wonderful Easter weekend!
I was in Atlanta visiting my family and it was so nice to be home.
The best part was spending so much time with my sweet little nephew.

tank // white jeans (only $54) order a size down, lots of stretch and run a little big

I couldn’t get over how cute his little outfit was for meeting the Easter Bunny.

we also had a fun night out Friday at Top Golf and loved it.
it was so nice to spend so much time outdoors.  I am awful at golf and still could have sat there and played ALL night- the boys did more golfing and my sister and I did more watching and talking.
we made a delicious Easter dinner (for Saturday since we would be flying back to Chicago Sunday).
on me : splendid gingham top now on sale! cute little split back too

and finished it off with my mom’s amazing cheesecake, that I also ate for breakfast on Sunday morning because why the heck not.  I really don’t like cheesecake but hers I could eat all day long.

when we got back home Sunday, I went for a walk around the neighborhood and listened to some podcasts.  I need to work on taking some time to walk outdoors more (now that we actually can!) – it definitely helped calm the sunday scares and made me grateful for where we live in Chicago.
one of you lovely readers told me about the Watch What Crappens podcast, all about Bravo shows, and THANK YOU!  they are long and some of it pretty ridiculous, but it was definitely something that is right up my alley and something I’ll be tuning in to regularly! don’t worry I balanced out my trashy podcast with some “Happier” and “Lively Show”, and obviously I didn’t enjoy either of them as much as the trash.

in case you missed my late post yesterday,
J.Crew Factory is still having their amazing 50% off EVERYTHING sale.

yes, FIFTY. see yesterdays post and head over to stock up for spring and summer!!

it is a BIG WEEK on Bravo people!
BIg. HUGE.

so GET EXCITED!
Beverly Hills part 2, Premiere of New York Housewives , Million Dollar Listing

so I just really need to know when People’s Couch will be back on and then life will be good again.

ps. for how often I seem to be at the darn airport the last year or two,
at least there are always amazing sights like this to behold.
full white fur + a giant plastic gold crown.  stylin’.

he ALMOST sat next to me on the plane too.  winning.

my instagram isn’t always exciting, but DAMN when its good its good 🙂

:: weekend recap ::
I am recovering from another wonderful weekend (with college friends + a wedding),
and while it was amazing,
I’m so happy to be home and to catch up on some sleep this week.
I drove from Chicago to Cincinnati on Friday for a sorority sisters wedding and had a very, very fun girls weekend.
The wedding + bride were absolutely gorgeous!

They had signature cocktails with classic Miami of Ohio bar cocktails for the Miami Mergers.
They even had a live country band it was ah-mazing.

the drive felt like 10 hours instead of 5 on the return trip Sunday.
I listened to a bunch of podcasts to help me keep my eyes open.
I caught up on some episodes of the lively show and then tried out happier.
when I used to commute 2 hours a day, I had listened to The Happiness Project on audiotape and even though her voice/speech and half of the entire thing annoyed me and was so boring, I liked the other half.
the podcast seems to be the same – the things that annoyed me before still do.
and OH YEAH…. don’t worry… I totallllyyyy realize I am listening to a podcast about being happier and I am being a negative pain in the ass about it.
the irony is not lost on me.
happier is a little much at times, with nonsense chatter, and some cheesy things I would never do, but the episodes are quick and I liked some of the easy tips to try to incorporate into the every day.
here are some of the things the happy lady tells me, the sarcastic beyotch, to do:
1. set at alarm at night to go off to you know when to go to sleep.  like pavlov’s dog.

me : theres no way this would work for me.  I am the person that sets 27 alarms one to two minutes apart in the morning and snoozes for an hour before actually getting out of bed.  I don’t need to set multiple alarms to hit the snooze button BEFORE bed and make myself crazy at night as well.

2. make your bed every morning.

me : I DO THIS! score! I’m such a happy person it’s crazy!
but I really do agree with the reasoning of it and its why I started doing it – first task of the day is already completed and it’s starts the day in the right direction.
oh ….. except that my husband is still sleeping when I leave for work 99% of the time…. so I make my half of the bed and come home to his kind-of-made side of the bed which consists only of putting the pillow in front of the headboard and maybe pulling up the duvet because he knows I like it made….. so maybe thats like a 50% win for me?

3. keep appealing scents in the house and randomly sniff them.

me : this was the lamest podcast I have ever heard in my life.
my negative thoughts flowed out of my mouth as I talked to myself in the car about who would buy little vials of different scents and keep them on a shelf and just sniff them.

and then I say out loud how DAMN I just did it again……
I mean…… over an hour of happiness podcasts proved to me I’m even more of a cynical asshole than I thought I was.  SHOOT.  something tells me that is not the goal.

I finally watched the finale of RHOBH.
why can Kim Richards not comprehend that MauriciO’s name is not Maurice?!
kills me.
I am very, very excited for the reunion on Tuesday.
and very, very excited for NYC to start up.
and very, very anxious about how many hours of TV I have to catch up on this week.

I saw the full preview of the Lilly Pulitzer for Target line and I really hope everything doesn’t sell out in 12 seconds because everything is so cute.

I was so tired last week from Vegas that I barely worked out at all, and have been eating like crap for weeks.  It’s actually been awesome and french fries are my best friend and love me like no one else can.  But now I think I’m officially disgusted so I guess thats good and I can finally knock it off.
This week kicks off “operation get your ass in gear lady come on lock it up diet starts monday shut your pie hole” or the shortened version “operation lock it up” so I have a feeling today’s workout is going to kill me.
image
I need a detox like WOAH. (well…. until in 3 weeks when I’m in Vegas again……shoot…….)
I’m tempted to say no alcohol for the next 3 weeks entirely, but think I will be honest with myself in saying that probably won’t happen.  I’ll resort to take it easy and just say only a glass or two of wine on the weekends til Vegas.
I’m pathetic.

hope you all had a great weekend.
i’m currently dying recovering from st. patrick’s day celebrations.

if this is how bad I feel from one day, I am even more terrified of how I will feel every morning next weekend when I am in VEGAS BABY.

we hosted a party at our place + it was so much fun.
I went to the dollar tree for decorations and may have gone a little crazy…. like making a photo booth wall crazy.   photo overload below.

also, my husband finally agreed to start watching The Blacklist with me and he loves it so THANK GAWD we found a show we can both watch.
for some reason he’s resisting starting season 3 of house of cards even though he watched all of the first two.
like….. what up with that?

I’m off to take my nineteenth dose of ibuprofen to the face.
if any of you are interested in the recipe for the st. patricks day lucky charm rice crispy treats, I used this recipe and they were so cute if i do say so myself.

oh hey.
via
hope you all had an amazing weekend 🙂
the temps warmed up here and I swear I haven’t seen so many people walking around outside since November.  it was as if the population in our neighborhood multiplied by 50.

Friday night I went to dinner at LuxBar and then hit up the bars to celebrate my friend moving to DC.

Saturday night I got real wild.
my husband went to the bar to drink with friends.
it was the warmest day of 2015. and a saturday. so naturally
I went and got chipotle, grabbed myself a drink, and put on some netflix.
but don’t fret, I classed it up like a lady
I made it a brown rice bowl, put it on my own real dishes & poured a glass of prosecco.
then I watched the hottest man alive on SNL and laughed my head off.
the intro with the kate mckinnon hilary clinton skit was hilarious.

Sunday I treated myself to a massage – FINALLY.  I’ve only had one massage ever and it was about 8 years ago.  I have so many knots and stress points and blah blah that half of it hurt and half of it was great.  I still felt just as awkward as I did when I had my first one at 20…. it’s just weird having a stranger touch you and seriously creeps me out.
and then I want to be like “please don’t talk at all… like…. at all.” but of course I don’t say that and then I wish I would say it the whole time.

I made skinnytaste’s balsamic glazed brussel sprouts with dinner; they were delicious!

and then I tried to handle my sunday scaries by having a glass of vino and some samoas.
chocolate and wine never hurts.

did anyone watch the real housewives of melbourne premiere?
because OHH MY GOODNESS.
it was not to be believed. I will DEFINITELY be watching.
three of the women’s names : Chyka, Gamble, and Pettifour.
although I like chyka from season one, but still.
these women put plastic surgery in california to SHAME.
gambles face TRULY does not move. an inch.
I couldn’t understand what she was saying, not because of the australian accent which is the case when some of them talk, but because her mouth didn’t move a muscle.
when I could comprehend what she was saying, I couldn’t believe my ears.
watch it and lets discuss on Coffee Talk!

in case you missed it, I posted the cutest weekend steals and deals yesterday, so check those out and nab em before they’re gone!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend 🙂
I was home meeting my best friends baby boy for the first time and spending time with my family and nephew.
It’s so crazy to think my best friend of my whole life has A BABY! Her whole family and my whole family got together Friday night and it was so nice to spend the weekend with them.
He is just the sweetest thing ever. Such a little angel.

My sister made some serious upgrades to their guest room and they are too cute not to share.
She had our framed wedding photo on the nightstand, new issues of magazines, bottled water, granola bars, and cookies in mason jars all nestled in the nightstand.
THE CUTEST.
I’ve been meaning to post about these leggings because I had been living in them.
I wore them every single day this weekend and one them so much.
They are Yummie (RHONYC heather’s line…. I thought it was called yummy tummy but online it just says yummie) and have a higher waist to suck in and smooth out the stomach and they are so damn comfortable.

I love them with my 5050 boots and a tunic top or oversized sweater.
gingham top  // boots // leggings
(I snagged the blue gingham top after I posted it of a wishlist wednesday and love it so much!!
there are other sizes for gingham top available here if they don’t have yours)

these jessica simpson boots are almost identical and are crazy inexpensive, under $100!
// boots //
we stopped by the ballard designs outlet over the weekend but didn’t find anything to take with us.
I am determined to get a coffee table and rug for our living room this next week or two (we have our old coffee table in the basement living room and our old rug is way too big for the space).

There are a couple rugs I’m debating at the moment.
// rug //
// rug //
 // rug //
 // rug //

in case you can’t tell, yes, I am all over the place with what kind of rug.

with 17 days until Vegas,
I am hoping to get serious with the healthy eating and working out this week.
this is the laziest I have been in years and the fit of my clothes is showing it!
time to get back on track!
image

this week, I’ll be following the Tone It Up weekly workout schedule and trying to reduce my carb cravings 🙂
I’m also going to try to squeeze in at least ten minutes of abs a night,
these 8 minute ab videos are straight out of the 80s, but easy and effective.
and a good laugh staring at the workout clothes.

I hope you all had a wonderful Valentine’s weekend!
other than the freezing cold and snow, it couldn’t have been more perfect.
we had so many flowers in the house, thanks to my sweet husband, and I can’t wait to stare at them and smell them all week!

I saw my hair girl and gossiped about Bravo and got my highlights back in order.
always an important day.

Saturday I kicked off the day at Pure Barre with one of my girlfriends.

I thoroughly liked it. Luckily there was a girl in front of me that was a tiny little thing and a pure barre pro so I could stare at her to figure out what to do (and also stare at her as motivation. two birds one stone.)  but that part above, where we had our backs against the wall and push against the bar really hard with your hands…… I had no idea what I was supposed to be doing it.
the rest of it was great though and the backs of my thighs are killing me.
i’m actually debating getting a class package…. but you know my feelings on leaving the house to work out soooooo not so sure about that.

then we went to brunch with kips parents at one of our favorite spots, Summerhouse.
I love this place so much.  And how bright and sunny it is in there is truly the greatest joy when living in the frozen tundra hell that is wintertime in Chicago.

For dinner, I always recommend the calamari to start and the enchiladas for dinner.
This was my first time having brunch there, and I went with the lemon cottage cheese pancakes, which sound so strange but were SO DAMN GOOD.  some of the best pancakes ever.

their cookies are to die for always.  the sea salt chocolate chip did not disappoint.

we decided to make dinner for valentine’s day this year.
I kicked it off with Ina Garten’s Caramelized Bacon to start.

for dinner, we decided to try to make one of our favorite meals, chicken pad thai.
it was an easy recipe and we really, really loved it.

for dessert, I wanted to recreate kip’s grooms cake from our wedding.

I made an insanely delicious cake and I’ll share the recipe tomorrow : chocolate cake with mocha frosting.  kip said it was the best chocolate cake he’d ever had, and it definitely was for me too. the cake recipe will be my new gold standard.

recipes to come tomorrow for crack of the week!

sunday was filled with TV, food, heat and blankets, and more TV.
i’m writing this before watching SNL 40 and The Bachelor, but you can assume I loved them.
