:: weekend recap ::
Hope you’re all having a great start to the week!!

I flew to Chicago last Thursday and drove up to Michigan for the weekend for my old co-workers wedding.
We all stayed at our bosses lake house;  it couldn’t have been a more fun weekend and everything from the bride to the venue were gorgeous.
Way too much fun and many laughs were had – and some tears on my behalf, both happy and sad, for getting to spend a weekend with everyone.

I wore one of my favorite dresses for the wedding.
I love the pom detailing on it.
// TULAROSA LACE TUNIC DRESS //
go down a size, its a loose fit

I’m staying a few extra days in Chicago to see friends and I am so excited for a little bit of time in the city.
I have been loving living in Atlanta and we are very happy, but I’m not going to lie, It’s been amazing to walk down Southport again, perhaps shed a tear or two, and laugh my head off with my favorite familiar faces.
so far, it has already been perfect Chicago days.
I will never tire of this city and the views- it’s the most gorgeous city ever, especially in the summer.

I finished Modern Lovers last week and started Liane Moriarty’s new book.
She is one of my absolute favorite authors.
// MODERN LOVERS // TRULY MADLY GUILTY //

Modern Lovers was okay – good but not great; it’s short chapters that bounce between characters so it was easy to read a few chapters a night before bed.
It wasn’t so great that I ripped through it, but when Truly Madly Guilty arrived I finished 100 pages in one night so that I could start this one.
So far it’s really good and I’m hoping it’s as great at some of her others.

I’ve loving these Kendra Scott earrings from my most recent rocksbox

I always forget how amazing the summer Olympics are.
It’s like the moment they start you forget about the mess of all of it and the drama surrounding Rio and just get excited.  It’s been a nightly highlight for sure.
Gymnastics is of course my favorite, but we’ve watched lots of Tennis + Swimming + Beach Volleyball too.
this little guy was too cute crying with his medal.

OH and Diving as I write this.
I meannnnnnnnn David Boudia is my man crush.

Yep.  Diving is a wonderful sport to watch 🙂

Happy Monday Everyone!
I hope you all had a great weekend!
We were lucky enough to be up at Lake Burton this weekend with friends; not gonna lie, these lake weekends have been incredible.  Driving a boat on the water is totally Kip’s happy place.

 we may or may not have cruised by Nick Saban’s house just to say hello……

Sunday morning we went out to do some wake boarding and Kip got to show off his moves.
I haven’t seen him wake board in so long that I always forget how good he is!
you can see the little boomerang video of him on instagram

I realized I never posted pictures from last weekends lake weekend so here are a few from that too!

On our way home yesterday, we stopped at the outlets.
The Restoration Hardware Outlet and Pottery Barn were amazing – we will definitely be back!
We got Kipper some good things,
but I was extremely well behaved and only got these $10 stud earrings.
:: j.crew stud earrings ::

Some items that have been in heavy rotation from my closet :

I’ve been living in these striped high waisted shorts almost as much as my polka-dot shorts.
Super comfy and I like the wider cut in the leg.

:: j.crew factory striped shorts ::
my parker tank is old, but I am in love with this one that is 60% off right now

:: parker silk tank ::

I’ve also been wearing the striped shorts with this chambray sleeveless top from Target.
:: chambray sleeveless top ::

I am so excited to start wearing this sweater in the fall.
It is SO soft.  The fabric is incredible.
Plus, I love a sweater that is a longer in the back than in the front, and the placement of the slits in the front are super flattering.
It comes in 5 colors and I’m considering getting it in another since it’ll be something I’ll wear over and over.

BOOTIES   //  WHITE JEANS on super sale for only $32   //   GREY SIDE SLIT SWEATER

OH and they restocked some of the peep-toe booties that I love, so go quick to snag yourself a pair!

For Kipper, I got him this quilted vest that I’m going to save and give him as one of his birthday gifts.
not to worry, he won’t know, he 100% does not read this blog.  ever.
:: quilted puffer vest with leather detail ::
it is SO cute. I know he’s going to love it.

Hope you all had a great weekend!!!

Friday night Kip and I went to a local tapas place for cocktails and we were the youngest people by like 20+ years.  Let me just say, it was an amazing time. No joke. The people were rowdy and put some of our friends to shame.  Ladies were falling all over the place.  I sadly think we have found a new hangout spot while we are living here in the burbs 🙂
I love some good people watching……

Saturday we met with friends at ladybird grove + mess hall.
 iI was such a cute spot right on the Beltline (it was our first time seeing the Beltline…. now we just need to go walk it! the beltline is like the 606 in Chicago and the high line in NYC). There is tons of outdoor space with picnic tables and lots of areas to mingle.

Several bar crawls were going on and one group was a mario kart themed pub crawl and I really should have taken a picture of them because they were so cute; full costumes even in the scorching heat and even a fishing pole with a sign that says “final lap” and the floating traffic light and everything.
Of course I took no photos – whoops – so here are some from their website.
But seriously the burger was one of the BEST I’ve ever, ever had. highly recommend it and we will be back!

It’s been fun seeing new areas every weekend that didn’t exist when I lived here growing up.  Atlanta is like an entire new city and I am clueless.  i’m so annoying (in general, but probably more so now) and am always asking people where they live because I have no idea where anything is and need to broaden our house hunting options since I’ve only been looking in one small area.

I saw this link for best restaurants along the beltline and am hoping we can hit some of these spots up soon!

 Sunday was a great day with pool time + another delicious steak from Kip and Ina’s Potato Salad for dinner.
Kip has really upped his grilling game (hallelujah! finally!) and we are having some great meals.

I wanted to share one of my favorite finds lately :
When J.Crew Factory had one of their big 50% off sales I stocked up on a few pieces, and these two pairs of shorts are a favorite.

With the elastic waist on the polka dot pair they are SUPER comfy and you can also situate them higher or lower on your hips to make them longer or shorter which is so nice.
Since I love them so much I’m going to try this cute pair and even change it up with these shorts too.
 Today is 40% OFF and FREE SHIPPING! use code FROZEN

:: polka dot shorts ::

these run TTS

:: polka dot shorts ::   //  lilly tank top // kendra scott necklace // old TB sandals (similar)

I had been on a serious hunt for white shorts and everything was failing.

These have a lot of stretch in them and are super soft,  and you can adjust the cuff at the bottom (which I just realized) so I’m hoping to make them thinner.

:: white shorts ::

These do run big, so order down at least one size and then tap yourself on the back for going dress a pant size or two with zero effort! 🙂

:: white shorts ::  // joie top, same in a different navy print

I always find the best Joie tops at Nordstrom Rack and when I looked online to see if they still had the print I’m wearing above I found this gorgeous one for 55% off.

:: joie silk top ::

their fabrics are perfect for the summer heat

and I constantly wear them because of the flattering flow cut.

Bachelorette and RhoOC are finally back tonight!
And the BEST sale ever, the Nordstrom semi-annual sale for cardholders kicks off THURSDAY 🙂

I hope you all had a great weekend!!

Friday night we went to Canoe to celebrate our 2 year wedding anniversary.
We had our rehearsal dinner at Canoe and we hadn’t been back since;  it was a perfect night.  We ate outside and then went and sat at the bar down by the river after dinner for cocktails.  There was another couple having their rehearsal dinner under a tent in the spot we did, so it was fun to see that in the distance while we celebrated.
 I looked almost as nice as our rehearsal  🙂   yeah right ……
we had a great pool day over the weekend too.
kip is a master of entertaining my nephew.
Sunday we began house hunting!
My mom so kindly drove us around for a couple of hours so we could be looking up the places on our phones and not driving off the road.
We didn’t find any places, but it was a good start and a good opportunity for Kip to kind of figure out the neighborhoods {he’ll keep showing me houses and I’m like “how come I’m not finding anything amazing like this!” and then I look at the map and I’m like “ohhhhh no. we’re not moving there…. that’s why its a an insane house for a crazy low price sweetie…. couldn’t pay me to live there”.}
Kip walked away discouraged – I thought it was fun to go drive around and look at places.  I’m still having nightmares about this one house that had their cat at the open house and it followed me around and I wanted to die.

 Sorry, can’t do cats.
And like seriously people if you want someone to buy your house don’t have your cat walking around the open house!!! What is wrong with you!!

(a lot…. the decor in this house was OHHHHH MYYYYY)
I forgot how much bad I saw when we house-hunted in Chicago before you find the good.  People are crazy.

I loved the Tony’s last night.
James Corden is so adorable – I crack up with his Car-eoke skits with celebs.
The best part was the Law & Order bit.
It was absolutely hilarious.

it looks like The Bachelorette isn’t on tonight!
STUPID BASKETBALL FINALS! DAMNIT!
We have to wait until next Monday for our final moments with Chad!

But not to worry, Southern Charm , Season Finale of RH of Dallas, and more will still be on 🙂

that kristin wiig gif reminded me of Maya & Marty (on Tuesdays)
have you all been watching? It is so, so good – I laughed so hard at the bread skit below!

:: monday moving + things ::
for some reason I decided to pack until 11 PM last night,
so I’ll have a Monday post for you later today.
one of my best friends came over to help and it made the experience much more fun and far less stressful.

my other best friend pinot grigio took the anxiety out of it and I seriously packed my ass off for hours upon hours yesterday.

our place is DE-STROYED.
but I caught up on 4 hours of Nashville, and sure enough, YEP the show still sucks.
thank goodness the finale is next Wednesday because I used to love that show but DAMN it has gotten bad and I am SO ready to break up with it and never see it again.

on a deeper note : why is bubble wrap so damn expensive?

and on a confusing note : it’s my first day not working, yet I got up at 6 AM to go to a spin class.
I don’t even know whats’ going on in my mind anymore.

come back later today to hear about my fun weekend,
which included dancing until 2 am on Saturday night like a lunatic.

:: new adventures ::

I hope you all had a great weekend!

I’m finally sharing the news I’ve been keeping from you for several weeks.

With us fixing up our condo the last couple months you may have already suspected, but Kip and I have sold our place and are moving.
image
The bigger change is that we are leaving Chicago and moving back down to my hometown of Atlanta!
image
There are a lot of emotions all over the place right now.  We’ve discussed moving South for about two years, and it’s just been a matter of when.  We love Chicago and love our lives here – but realistically we don’t want it forever.  And the months and months on end of freezing cold really start to take its toll.  Especially when you aren’t as young and fun (aka as much of booze hounds as we use to be – I know – imagine how much we used to drink if I’m saying we are pretty lame during the winter months now :D) We knew it was likely going to be a “leaving earlier than we want” or “stuck here longer than we want” situation.   Kip has been wanting a job change, and finding something new in Chicago was likely going to keep us here for several more years, which was longer than we had planned for.  So you guessed it – a new job in Atlanta came our way which was amazing – and that was the push we needed to get ourselves moving.
I’m so excited to be going back home, but in all honestly,  at the moment it’s very overwhelming.
literally the only thing that can even come close to explaining it is this:

Throughout the last few weeks, I’ve realized I am amazing at denial 🙂
 It is my coping mechanism.
Because there has been SO much going on and so much to do to get our renovation finished and our place perfect and on the market I am kind of just not really realizing what is going on.  I’ve just been going through the motions and checking things off the to-do list.
I literally was getting boxes from my boss’s place yesterday because they just moved and I commented on something with work when I will no longer be here.  Like, I’m getting moving boxes and forgetting I won’t be at work anymore. I’d say it’s been 95% of the time I am fine and busy and focused on things, but then in the middle of a conversation with a friend over the phone about the move I will start sobbing hysterically.
Or as I type this, I cry.

You know – totally normal – I am like pure zen and emotionally stable right now.  Clearly.

This will be my last week at work so it’s really putting it all into perspective for me – I am really sad to be leaving my job and the people, because I don’t think I will ever find anything like it.  I’m so lucky to go to an office everyday and love it – but now it will be Kip’s turn to get to experience that and I will find a new place to hopefully love.
Also, I know Kip is leaving his family and hometown whereas I am going to mine, so I have an added level of stress wanting to make things good for him and have him be happy and settled and comfortable.

In a way, I feel like leaving Chicago is like a break-up.
We know this is the right thing to do, and we know it is what we want, but it doesn’t necessarily make it any easier.
It’s like the boyfriend you love so much, but you know at the end of the day you aren’t going to marry him, so at some point you have to cut the cord.
SooOOOoooo.
I could clearly ramble on and on but I’ll stop myself.
Typing all of this out is making it very real and making my denial very difficult 🙂

We are super lucky that our place sold immediately when we put it on the market, and we will be in Atlanta in about two weeks.
I know most of this post sounds like I’m not very excited, but I am 🙂
I just have a really really really hard time with change – even change that I want – and preparing to leave the life I built for 8 years here (plus the 4 at Miami of Ohio, since that is how I ended up in Chicago to begin with) makes me sad.
I keep reminding myself that one of my best girlfriends left Chicago over a year ago and I still see her and am just as close to her – and the same thing with one of Kip’s best guy friends.
It’s not the location that maintains the friendship – and I have plenty of friends I haven’t lived in the same city as for the last 8 years and we are just as close.

I’ll show the final pictures from our amazing renovation tomorrow – I was already so madly in love with our place, and of course it made me love it even more.

So, none of this came out as eloquently as I had hoped 🙂
I know Coffee Talk doesn’t show it, but occasionally I can write well and this was one of those times I was hoping to verbalize my thoughts a bit better.
I think my emotions are keeping me from writing this the way I want it but whatever – I have other things to worry about, like packing up a 3 story condo.
 hashtag fun times

I’m excited for us to take on this new chapter in our lives !
It’s crazy that after talking about it for so long we are actually doing it – and that the time is finally here.
it’s crazy that we are adults and making life decisions like this – when the heck did this happen?

editors note : if you live in atlanta, and are PNF material (potential new friend), please know I am totally joking and not emotionally unstable at all.  well….. shit who am I kidding…. not making any promises 🙂

and now, to end, some cheesy motivational quotes to give me the monday motivation I need to get through this week.
