I hope you all had a great long weekend!
I am *exhausted* from being out of the house with the girls for so long but it was such a fun weekend.
We went with friends to the pool and then back to their house to BBQ on the fourth.  The girls were unsure about the water at first but then enjoyed it! We didn’t keep them in for more than a minute or two and then it was back to the shade for naps! I got them this cute suit from Ruffle Butts but it was so hot that I just put them in only the swim diaper.

We had such a great day and it’s so fun to have friends with babies the same age as ours!

Friday through Sunday we went to my moms for the weekend with the babies for a change of scenery.  They did *pretty* well the second night sleeping there but the first night was a little rough.  I think they knew we were in the bedroom sleeping with them and that they were in a new space obviously.  It was nice to get out though because as my husband said he was feeling “very stir crazy”.  (Yes… my husband who leaves the house daily and interacts with adults and sees other peoples face in real life all day long while I am home was just SO stir crazy…… you know I just let that slide right on by…..)

but I digress……

I wanted to finally share our kitchen project that Kip completed!
We had talked for so long about putting in a backsplash but I knew that if we did tile it would make such a mess, take much longer, and be difficult to use the kitchen and hang with the babies in the living room.  Plus it would be much more expensive for tile.  (And although I know my husband could do it, I was not looking forward to that!)

So we went with shiplap instead!
We did 4 inch shiplap boards.  He joined them and painted them before installing to make it easier to paint and install.  Overall it was a quick and easy project and makes SUCH a difference brightening up the space.
He also installed undermount lighting which makes a big difference too.
And I don’t notice our hideous countertops as much which is a big overall bonus!

I then noticed how FILTHY our cabinets were on the top half and had to climb on the counters and clean all of them.  Someone explain to me how the top half of cabinets can get that dirty?! That was my only contribution to the project…. but hey, it was something.
OH.  And I did some serious labor when we lived in Chicago when we PAINTED all of our cabinets ourselves (and then painted basically our entire condo before we moved after we added a bedroom and bathroom in the basement level).

It was quite the project with cabinets set up all over our house and in every bedroom as we stripped and painted.
So my husband can’t say I never do anything!
